MEMBERS of York's fostering team put on their running shoes to find more people to look after the city's children in care.
They joined the weekly Knavesmire Parkrun to promote their work on the weekend in the middle of Foster Care fortnight.
City of York Council is running a campaign to recruit 25 more foster carers.
David Leese, run director for parkrun in York, said: “Being a family-friendly organisation with a local ethos, we’re pleased to be able to support fostering in York.
“We understand each child in care needs a foster carer who can nurture them and help them grow into the adults they want to be.
“Our community is always looking to challenge themselves and beat their personal best: that’s why we’re urging residents to take the next step forward and find out more about fostering in York.”
The council needs carers to foster children of all ages from babies to teenagers, young people with additional needs and siblings who need to stay together.
Anyone interested in fostering should contact www.youcanfoster.org/york or call 01904 555 333.
