VILLAGERS in Rufforth are celebrating the opening of a new cycle and walking route.
The new path, which links the
village to an existing traffic-free path towards York, was constructed with the help of walking and cycling charity Sustrans and was funded by Yorventure and City of York Council.
Mrs Hilda Atkinson, who has lived in the village for 58 years, cut the ribbon on the new route.
Parish councillor Helen Butterworth said: “We’re absolute thrilled that after all our prolonged efforts the village is finally linked with
the existing Moor Lane bridleway so local residents don’t need to talk and cycle on the busy road.”
