THE COMEDIAN and star of the Ken Loach film I, Daniel Blake, will play a one-off performance this weekend.

Dave Johns will perform his show I, Fillum Star, at Selby Town Hall on Saturday night, looking back at his life and career in comedy as well as the experience of travelling to the Cannes Film Festival, the BAFTAs, and meeting Hollywood stars.

I, Daniel Blake won the Palme d’Or and 17 other major film awards, while in his role as Daniel, 60-year-old former bricklayer Dave won Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards and Empire Awards.

Chris Jones, Selby Town Council arts officer, said: "This is a fantastic feel good show. For any fans of Ken Loach’s work it’s a must see, and a great opportunity to meet one of the new stars of British cinema, but it’s also a story worthy of a film in its own right - a beautifully warm and engaging tale which reminds us that it’s never too late for our lives to change for the better."

Tickets are available on the door for £16, and the show starts at 8pm.
