HM BARK Endeavour's arrival in Whitby has been delayed due to strong winds.
The ship, which is a replica of Captain Cook's famous ship the Endeavour, was due to set out on a voyage designed to bring her 'home'.
But the journey from Middlesbrough to Whitby, which was scheduled to take place on Friday, is now due to happen on June 1.
Andrew Fiddler, owner of HM Bark Endeavour, said: “It’s disappointing to have to move the date but because the Endeavour will need to be towed in the open sea, we’ve looked at this Friday’s weather forecast and with possible wind gusts of up to 20mph we’ve been advised to postpone the journey.
"We’ll now look forward to the 1 June being the ship’s spiritual homecoming.”
The ship will leave the dry dock at A&P Tees near Middlesbrough, where it has undergone a refurbishment, before travelling 40 miles down the coast to arrive in Whitby later the same day.
