ROADWORKS are about to start at the junction of Heslington and Cemetery Road, and delays are expected.
The traffic lights are being replaced, pedestrian crossing improved and a cycle lane added on the Barbican Road approach.
The work should start next Monday, June 4 and is expected to take four weeks. Work will be carried out Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 5.30pm and weekends from 8am to 3pm.
Cllr Peter Dew, executive member for transport and planning, said they would try to keep disruption to a minimum but suggested people may want to avoid the junction altogether during the works.
“I’d like to once again thank residents, businesses and visitors for bearing with us whilst we complete the traffic signal renewal programme taking place across the city."
Once completed the work will be in everyone's best interests, he added.
There will be four-way traffic management, temporary crossing points and traffic marshals to help pedestrians.
The £2.62 million five year traffic signal asset renewal programme was
approved in November 2015.
