Who’d believe it? The East Coast Main Line’s services are back in Government hands again.
Wasn’t it Karl Marx who said: ‘History repeats itself, the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce?’.
When East Coast was renationalised after GNER failed, the service then made a decent profit for the public purse. The service ran well with the bonus of being free of Virgin’s irritating notices. Let’s hope for the same sparkling performance this time round.
