NEW Citizens Advice York sessions will be held in one of the city's wards from this month.

Labour councillors in Hull Road ward have approved funding for CAY to create a new service to help residents with advice on benefits, including PIP (Personal Independence Payments),ESA (Employment and Support Allowance) and UC (Universal Credit).

Cllr Hilary Shepherd said: "Having experience of PIP, I know how complicated and stressful this process can be. The very experienced caseworkers at CAY will help residents from start to finish in applying for these benefits and will even attend tribunals if required. We feel this will make a huge difference for people in taking away some of the stress of claiming these important benefits."

The new service will operate from Tang Hall Lane GP Surgery every Wednesday and will offer drop in sessions and appointments for

residents living within the Hull Road Ward boundary. Appointments can be made for tomorrow and onwards by phoning 01904 623648.

Cllr Michael Pavlovic said: "We wanted this service to be based in the heart of the ward to make sure residents could access it near to where they live. That’s why we are delighted to have the support of Priory Medical Group at their Tang Hall Lane Surgery."
