The new civic head of Ryedale District Council will be helping the men and women who provide a flying lifeline to rural communities.
Cllr Michael Cleary chose the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Ryedale Special Families as his charities for his year as Chairman.
He took over the role from Cllr William Oxley at the council’s annual general meeting.
Cllr Cleary said: ““There’s a lot happening at the moment for the council and the district.
“In my new role as chairman I’m looking forward to being able to support these developments, both in terms of my role at the council but also in terms of my role in representing the district elsewhere too.”
As well as presiding over full council meetings, the member for Derwent Ward will also perform ceremonial duties.
