Royal Wedding Parties are starting up across York and North Yorkshire as the Royal Couple become man and wife at St George's Chapel, Windsor.

The sun is shining and the city and North Yorkshire are determined to make the most of the special day.

York police officers joined their colleagues from other forces on duty in Windsor for the occasion. .

They were from York South's Safer Neighbourhood Team.

Although the number of street parties today in York is not as great for Prince William's marriage in 2011, residents of Telford Terrace, off Albemarle Road, Galtres Avenue off Stockton Lane and Greencliffe Drive near Clifton Green, have closed their roads to celebrate.

Woodthorpe Community Centre is on fete on Woodthorpe Green.

The Storehouse in Mansfield Street began its celebrations before the bride left the hotel where she had spent her last night as a commoner.

Meanwhile, in York city centre, shoppers are being entertained to a keyboard and synths concert where the music is so loud the crowd watching are standing well back.
