A COMMUNITY event in Haxby will give people a chance to discuss plans for a new care and support hub in the north of York.

After the opening of York’s first Talking Point in Acomb, City of York Council is inviting people to find out more about another planned centre. The public event is at Oaken Grove Community centre on Tuesday, May 22 between 10am and 12pm.

York’s first Talking Point opened at Lidgett Grove Methodist Church in late March, to make it easier for people to talk face-to-face with adult social care staff close to their homes.

The new one is due be situated in Haxby and Wigginton, with the catchment area covering Huntington, New Earswick, Rawcliffe and Clifton Without.

Cllr Carol Runciman, City of York's executive member for health and adult social care, said: "As the programme moves forward we want to have more Talking Points across the city to allow our residents to have quicker and easier access to adult social care staff. Following the success of the first Talking Point in Acomb and its surrounding areas we have identified Haxby and Wigginton as a potential next location.

"Before we open our latest Talking Point we want to hear from residents about the support that would help them most and how they want it to work."
