THERE are delays on the railway line between York and Darlington after a person was hit by a train at Northallerton.
British Transport Police confirmed that they were called at about 12.25pm and the person died at the scene of the incident.
A spokesman said the next of kin will be informed and the death is not believed to be suspicious.
Virgin Trains East Coast says services may be delayed by up to 60 minutes, cancelled or revised. Disruption is expected until 4pm.
Replacement bus services have been organised to run between York and Darlington in both directions.
