LARGE inflatable kites from all over the world will be flying high over Sewerby Fields in Bridlington this weekend as part of an annual festival.

The Bridlington Kite Festival attracts professional flyers, teams of kite flyers performing sequences, Indian fighter kites and other displays. The two-day event is run by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Active Coast programme and the Northern Kite Group and is free to attend. It runs from 10am to 5pm on May 19 and 20.

Councillor Richard Burton, cabinet portfolio holder for leisure, tourism and culture, said: “This is the third year of the kite festival, which continues to grow in popularity."
