ORGANISERS of this year’s Beertown are turning Malton into a “theatre of beer” with some of the best beers from breweries in the UK and beyond.

Now in its fifth year, Beertown, which takes place at the Milton Rooms, brings together two of the town’s breweries, Brass Castle and Bad Seed.

Chris Waplington, of Bad Seed Brewery, said: “After four hugely successful years we’re changing the layout to fit in even more beer. Thanks to our thirsty customers we’ve had to increase the number of beers on offer every year at Beertown -we’ve over doubled the number since we started.”

This year Beertown will take place from today (Thursday) to Saturday.

Chris said: “Malton is a Beertown -we have two successful breweries, Brass Castle and Bad Seed, making traditional and new wave beers. Now in its fifth year, Beertown brings them together to celebrate Malton’s rich brewing history and exciting future.

“Our beer list will showcase an eclectic range of beers in both cask and keg from the best breweries across the UK and beyond. We’ll have exciting beers from the US, as well as cutting edge breweries closer to home.”

For the first time this year there will also be separate gin and cider bars, as well as local artisan street food providers and live music.

Chris added: “As it’s the same weekend as the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle we’re offering a free pint to anyone who turns up in wedding or royal fancy dress.

“Beertown raises money for Ryedale Special Families, a local charity that supports families with children and young adults with special needs. A fantastic cause that we can all raise a glass to.”

Tickets are £6 and available from beertownmalton.com
