A SANDWICH to celebrate the "taste of Yorkshire" has been created by a York bakery.
The Flat Cap Special will go on sale at branches of Thomas the Baker from Sunday to celebrate British Sandwich Week.
The sandwich is made of a flat white roll filled with beef, horseradish sauce and red onion chutney.
General manager Simon Thomas said: “What better way to celebrate than with a special sandwich representing God’s own county – even down to the flat cap shaped bread roll. It’s initially just available for the week from May 20 to 26, but if it proves popular we may well make it part of our regular menu.”
He added that the company sells thousands of sandwiches across the country every week.
The bakery opened its first branch in Malton and now has 30 shops including six stores across York. Its main bakery is based in Helmsley.
