FIVE hundred cyclists saddled up and used their pedal power to give charities a cash boost.
Selby District Lions Club’s Great Selby Bike Ride was held on Sunday, with cyclists having the option of riding a 45 mile or 25 mile route, starting and ending at Barlby High School.
The riders raised sponsorship money and all the funds raised will be donated to St Leonard’s Hospice, Martin House Hospice, British Heart Foundation and the NSPCC.
The total amount raised is not yet known.
One of the organisers and Selby Lions member, Dave Clarke, said: “It was a good day for cycling and everything went okay with no incidents.”
This is the 32nd year that the Great Bike Ride has been held.
Over the years it has raised in excess of £250,000 for various charities.
