STEVE Gribbin will top the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club bill at York Barbican on May 18, supported by Dave Williams and Thomas Green, all introduced by master of ceremonies Damion Larkin.

Gribbin is a diminutive guitar-wielding satirist from Liverpool who combines scabrous comedy songs with off-the-wall observations. For nine years, he was the smaller one in the dynamic comedy duo Skint Video, stalwarts of the Edinburgh Fringe, who went their different ways in 1993.

Williams' crisp one-liners and surreal nonsense have taken him to Melbourne, Brisbane, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha, as well as the Edinburgh Fringe, with his stand-up and character comedy. Best among his solo show titles has been 24-Hour Latte People.

Green is an Australian stand-up comic and actor with an interesting plot twist: he is also a supply teacher in Britain. He brings to his comedy an elastic face, a gift for story telling and an energetic stage presence.

Larkin, who likes to improvise his set, will rally everyone from 8pm. Tickets cost £17 on 0844 854 2757 or at lolcomedyclubs.co.uk or £22.95 on the door

from 7.30pm.

The next Laugh Out Loud night at York Barbican will be on June 22.
