I AM very pleased that Dringhouses is once again to have a Post Office, but I ask the question: “What about the Post Office for Burton Stone Lane/Clifton which we were promised?”

Nothing has been due and it doesn’t seem to be discussed any more.

The nearest one is Eastholme Drive or York city centre, so if you haven’t any transport, tough - walk or use the bus.

Burton Stone Lane/Clifton in the past were really good shopping areas. You didn’t need to go into York, everything was there - just like Acomb.

Now these areas are becoming like backwaters.

When you walk towards the shops in Burton Stone Lane, there are cars, vans, lorries parked half on the footpath and half on the road, making it very difficult for pushchairs, wheelchairs, trolleys and disabled people.

The footpaths are a disgrace and the street doesn’t look as if it has been cleaned since the year dot.

Down one of the side streets non-residents regularly park on the grass verges, thus when they leave it looks like a quagmire.

Finally, to add insult to injury, we are being robbed of our Community Centre, with nothing in the near future to replace it.

This could have been solved if the council had listened to the people regarding The Groves Chapel.

It is now time for councillors to put residents first, not tourists, and stop wasting taxpayers’ money.
