The 40 mph stretch of the A64
A police incident caused extra delays to motorists on the A64 heading towards Leeds during the rush hour.
Both lanes were closed on the westbound carriageway between the A162 and the A659 interchanges in the stretch subject to a 40 mph speed limit for central reservation work.
One lane was opened shortly before 7pm and traffic is again flowing along the York to Leeds road.
