HUGE crowds gathered in sunshine in York's Museum Gardens at noon today to watch a 21-gun Royal Salute being fired to mark the Queen's 92nd birthday.
A Saluting Troop from 4th Regiment Royal Artillery fired three 105 mm Light Guns, followed by the playing of the National Anthem.
Earlier, the Band of The Yorkshire Regiment had marched through the city centre to the gardens.
The Salute took place simultaneously with similar events at11 other saluting stations around the country. York's is the only such station in the north.
