THREE youths were found by firefighters and detained after two small fires were started inside a former Nestlé factory building in York.

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said crews from Acomb, Huntington and Tadcaster, along with an aerial ladder platform, were sent to the three storey building in Haxby Road at 5.40pm yesterday following reports of smoke coming from the building.

"Upon arrival, crews found two small rubbish fires within the building and extinguished them using the wildfire backpacks," said a spokeswoman.

"Crews then conducted a search of the building and found three youths who were left in hands of police."

Special Constable Chris Hartley ‏tweeted that three youths detained after a search of the Nestlé building were taken home, adding: "Sometimes the telling off from MUM is enough. Been here 10 minutes and Mum is still going ...."
