CARE homes around York will open their doors to the public on Saturday.

Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust homes are taking part in Care Home Open Day to help the public find out about life in local homes, who lives and works there, and available activities.

The theme of this year’s day is Linking Communities, encouraging people to visit local care homes in their community and to work together to develop better relationships.

Teresa Parker, JRHT’s director of care services, said: "Our care homes are friendly, happy and exciting places to be, but some people still have misconceptions of what life is like in a care home. We’re keen to show people that our homes connect really well with their local communities, and all have excellent services to offer."

Homes taking part include Lamel Beeches in Heslington Road, Hartrigg Oaks and Red Lodge in New Earswick.
