STAFF at the best fish and chip shop in the UK had a visit from a giant cat.
Miller’s, the family-run fourth-generation fish and chip shop in Haxby, hosted Murdock the Cat from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), who dropped in to promote an ongoing national campaign and raise consumer awareness around the importance of sustainable fishing practices.
To celebrate the day, Miller’s created a new dish, pan-fried, MSC certified hake and passers by were treated to free samples.
Back in January Millers took the title of Fish and Chip Shop of the Year in the 30th National Fish and Chip Awards, organised by the Seafish industry body.
The shop beat competition from nine other regional winners at an awards ceremony at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
The MSC are an international organisation who set the standard for sustainable fishing.
