A POPULAR events venue in North Yorkshire will open its grounds and gardens for a celebratory Royal Wedding Garden Party in honour of the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle next month.

Grade-I listed Carlton Towers, in Carlton, near Selby, will host a Great British-style street party on May 19, from 10.30am to sunset, in honour of the couple. Celebrations will include live music, a hog roast, face painting, a bouncy castle, garden games and a bar offering real ales, gins, Pimms and Prosecco.

Carlton Towers’ Royal connections make it the ideal venue at which to celebrate the happy couple tying the knot.

The 17th-century house is home to Lord Gerald Fitzalan Howard and his family.

Lord Gerald is the younger brother of the Duke of Norfolk, the premier duke in the peerage of England. The Duke also holds the hereditary title of Earl Marshal, tasked with organising state occasions such as opening of Parliament and other Royal occasions.

The Howards’ position of prominence has seen Carlton Towers receive a number of visitors with Royal connections over the years, including Pippa Middleton, younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge.

The Royal Garden Party costs £10 per person in advance or £12 on the door, and is free for under threes. See carltontowers.co.uk, phone 01405 861 662 or email info@carltontowers.co.uk to book
