A STAR of stage and screen will bring her one-woman show about a music legend to Selby.

Patti Boulaye joined the West End cast of Hair in 1971 and went on to win the ITV talent show New Faces in 1978 - the only contestant ever to receive a maximum of 120 points from the judging panel.

Patti, who was awarded an OBE for her charity work in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa in 2016, has recently published her remarkable autobiography, The Faith of a Child, which charts her life story through wealth, poverty and civil war, to show-business stardom and success in both Britain and her birth country Nigeria.

Her show Billie & Me discusses the parallels of her life and career with that of legendary jazz icon Billie Holiday, and features performances of songs including That Ole Devil Called Love, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Lover Man and God Bless the Child.

Chris Jones, Selby Town Council's arts officer, said: "Patti’s moving one-woman show has already received some fantastic reviews from her London residencies. Her appearance in Selby is one of only four dates this year outside London and the south-east. It’s a rare opportunity to hear Patti’s brilliant voice and enjoy a selection of timeless Billie Holiday classics."

The show will be performed at Selby Town Hall on Saturday, April 28, and tickets are on sale now for £15 at the venue, on 01757 708449 or at selbytownhall.co.uk
