ROAD closures will start tonight, Sunday, as resurfacing work begins on the Lendal Arch gyratory scheme.

Rougier Street, Station Road, Station Rise and Station Avenue will be shut overnight from 8.30pm until 5.30am every day except for Friday and Saturday for the next two weeks.

However there will be some single lane closures during the day around bus stops on Station Road and Station Avenue as the new surfaces take 24 hours to cure.

Diversion routes will be signposted throughout the works.

Work on the Lendal Arch gyratory includes renewing traffic signals and changes to pedestrian crossings.

The junction will be resurfaced in two stages.

City of York Council has warned motorists to expect some disruption but said they are doing everything possible to minimise inconvenience.
