VANDALISM on a train between York and Doncaster may delay services, Virgin Trains East Coast has tweeted.

It said the vandalism meant services running through the stations were having to run at a reduced speed and therefore might be delayed.

The company, which operates frequent express trains between London and York, also tweeted that, 'owing to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time, the 15:00 London King's Cross to Edinburgh will be cancelled.'

It also warned that damage to overhead electric wires between Stevenage and London King's Cross meant services to and from these stations might be delayed by up to 15 minutes.
