A BRAVE York mum and her daughter are looking forward to an evening to remember tonight (March 24) thanks to the people behind a popular cancer fundraiser.

Gill Taylor and daughter Rachael have been bought VIP tickets to York Rocks Against Cancer, the concert featuring leading York bands and the Emmerdale cast, after organisers Will Robey and Ian Surgenor discovered what it would mean to them.

Non-smoker Gill, 48, of Skelton, was diagnosed with lung cancer last year, but four days before she was due to have surgery, she was taken ill with dizzy spells and a scan showed she had multiple sclerosis and could no longer have her operation.

The pair were having a tough time because of the diagnosis, money was tight and Gill entered a competition to win VIP tickets for York Rocks.

They didn’t win but Ian and Will’s hearts were melted and they bought the pair tickets instead.
