A MUSICIAN arrested at Heathrow Airport as he returned to York after working in Dubai has received a suspended prison sentence.

Adam Walker, prosecuting, said police found videos of children being sexually abused on Jason William Flanagan’s computer equipment.

They also found the search terms that he had been using to find sexual images of children on the internet.

Flanagan, 31, of Geldof Road, Huntington, pleaded guilty to two charges of having indecent images of children shortly before he was due to stand trial.

His barrister Glenn Parsons told York Crown Court Flanagan was ashamed.

“His involvement with the material was short-lived,” he said. “He thought better of it and he deleted it and only never returned to it, but now he has to pay for it today.”

Flanagan had returned to the UK at the request of North Yorkshire Police.

The Honorary Recorder of York, Judge Paul Batty QC, gave Flanagan a 21-month prison sentence, suspended for two years on condition he does 120 hours’ unpaid work and 20 days’ rehabilitative activities tackling his sexual attitudes.

“The search terms you were employing were truly disgusting and the children in whom you were interested were very young indeed,” the judge told Flanagan.

“It may well be everything was taking place when you had been drinking too much when you were in Dubai when you were apparently working.
