THE owner of a popular gin shop and cocktail bar which broke the Guinness World Record for selling for than 1,000 different varieties of the spirit says it has been an “utterly bonkers” experience.

Shelley Green from Evil Eye Lounge on Stonegate said she has had enquiries from gin fans across the globe since smashing the world record for stocking the most commercially available gins.

Evil Eye now sells 1,026 different bottles of mother’s ruin from its 20 sqm shop, including its own brand which can also be sampled in the bar.

And it is now launching an online shop after receiving enquiries from as far away as Canada and Bangladesh.

Shelley said: “It’s been crazy, it’s been utterly bonkers but in a good way.

“It’s been exciting to meet all these different people and hear the stories behind how they produce their gin. We are one big family, the staff are all amazing - every single one has helped break this world record. We did struggle towards the end and needed to find these little suppliers. It was a lot of hard work but it has been an exciting journey.”

Evil Eye is also launching a mobile cocktail bar.
