YORK Central MP Rachael Maskell is to hold a public meeting in York today (March 22) to discuss Europe.

Article 50 was triggered in March 2017 and Ms Maskell will provide an overview of what has happened over the last year, and what the outstanding issues are. She will also bring her own fresh analysis of the current situation and how we should move forward, and wants to listen to what residents have to say.

The meeting will take place at 7pm at the Friends Meeting House, Friargate, York.

Residents wishing to attend are asked to make an online booking at the following address: http://www.rachaelmaskell.com/rachael_maskell_mp_hosts_europe_meeting_in_york Anyone experiencing difficulty with this can phone Ms Maskell’s office on 01904 623713 for help.

Ms Maskell said: “It is now over a year since the Prime Minister triggered Article 50. She has said that we will leave Europe by the end of March 2019 but there’s a lot of doubt and uncertainty about what this means and how people will be affected.

“The Government are over halfway through the process and people have no certainty over their futures. Everyday I receive messages from people who are worried about trade, their rights, the sharp rise in the cost of living and our role in the world, and want certainty, something the Prime Minister has failed to offer to date. This meeting will give me an opportunity to bring people in York up to date on what’s been happening over the past year as well as giving them the opportunity to talk about how they would like to see us proceed, so that I can raise this in Parliament”.

“Adults and young people who live in York Central can attend and have their say; it is about all our futures."
