VISITORS to York Dungeon can enjoy a tipple at the end of the attraction's tour from Monday when a new bar opens.

York Dungeon's Ye Olde Yorke Inn will give visitors a chance to sit back and enjoy a drink, while remembering their favourite and scariest parts of their journey.

The attraction's marketing executive Simon Alnaimi said: "The idea was to have a bar at the end of the Dungeon experience where visitors could steady their nerves after a terrifically terrifying show.

"London Dungeon has its own tavern and we felt it was important to create a place where people could chat about their spooky experiences post tour over a drink, rather than walking straight outside."

The Victorian-style tavern will sell wine and themed Day Of The Dead beers from Mexico, as well as soft drinks for children.

Plans are afoot to introduce cocktails and bar snacks in the future.

Meanwhile, a new show is taking place at York Dungeon exploring the life and legacy of the Celtic Queen of the Brigantes, Cartimandua.

Before the Vikings and before the Saxons, Yorkshire was called Brigantia and was ruled by Cartimandua.

She was chummy with the Romans, and even divorced her husband Venutius, took his family hostage, and later had to battle against him after he tried to rebel against her Roman friends.

The show - 'Cartimandua – She’s a Killer Queen!', starts today. and will take place daily at York Dungeon until April 29.
