CHILDREN at Swinton Playgroup enjoyed a belated World Book Day.
The official day, which fell on Thursday, March 1, was cancelled by many schools and playgroups due to the recent snow.
However, staff at Swinton Playgroup, which is based in The Reading Rooms, decided to go ahead last Thursday, with youngsters attending sessions dressed as their favourite book characters.
Jennie Smith, playgroup leader, said: “The children did homemade play dough, read their books at carpet time and took part in role playing.
“They also finished their Mother’s Day presents.
“The children learn through playing, which is the motto of Swinton Playgroup.”
