A hairdresser will be on the receiving end of the clippers when she has her head shaved for charity.

Amporn Pool, who runs Amporn’s Hair Salon in Pickering, will undergo the head shave to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Amporn said: “I’ve been living in the UK for 15 or 16 years and I’d just like to say thank you to the people of Yorkshire.”

Two of her customers had been saved by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance in circumstances where they may not otherwise have survived.

“I’m really happy to do this, and I hope it will help,” she added.

She will undergo the head shave back in Thailand in mid-April as part of a stay at a temple.

Following the shave she will be donating the hair to the Little Princesses Trust, a charity which provides wigs for children and young adults suffering with hair loss.

Her running total so far after two weeks is £300, with fundraising continuing until the end of April.

People can donate either by going into the salon or by going online at justgiving.com/fundraising/amporn-pool
