A MAN has been charged after a car crashed into a house in York.

On September 3 last year, a white Volkswagen Golf R ploughed into the living room of a house in Rivelin Way, Rawcliffe, and caught fire.

A 54-year-old man who was sat in the room at the time suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, along with the three people in the car. The two passengers were a 28-year-old man and 33-year-old woman.

North Yorkshire Police has confirmed that a 29-year-old man from York has been charged with three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and one count of failing to provide a specimen of blood for analysis.

He is due to appear at York Magistrates' Court on March 29.
