PARENTS and relatives who have lost a baby are invited to join a special service of love, thanksgiving and remembrance this Mother’s Day.

The service has been organised by York’s stillbirth and neonatal death charity, SANDS, and York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

It will be held on Sunday, March 11, at York Hospital’s Chapel, starting at 10.30am.

The service is open to anyone who has been affected by the loss of a baby, regardless of faith or belief, and is always well attended.

Leanne Covey, bereavement officer at York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the body responsible for running hospitals in York, Malton and Bridlington, said: “The memorial service is a valued opportunity for parents and relatives to pause and remember their little ones.

“At whatever stage of grief people find themselves, it’s a way of marking a moment and renewing precious memories.”
