THREE people have been arrested in connection with a robbery in York city centre in the early hours of Saturday.

CCTV operators alerted North Yorkshire Police to reports of an assault in the Tanners Moat area at just after 3.30am.

Officers attended the scene, and two men and a woman were arrested nearby at 3.40am on suspicion of robbery. All three remain in police custody at this time.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the Yorkshire Ambulance Service were called to the scene to help deal with the male victim, and a number of witnesses had been spoken to.

Enquiries into the robbery are ongoing, and anyone who was in the area at the time and has information which could help police should phone 101 quoting log 59 of Saturday, February 24.
