WORK is starting on a £38 million scheme to reduce journey times on York’s Outer Ring Road next week.
Site clearance will begin at the Wetherby Road roundabout- the first of seven roundabouts on the A1237 set for major improvements, including wider entrances and exits and improved pedestrian and cycling facilities.
Site clearance is happening now, ahead of the main construction in June, to avoid impacting on nesting birds. Hedges and saplings will be removed, and replacement ones planted along the line of the new highway boundary.
The final road layout will be decided at a meeting on March 15.
