A YELLOW warning for snow has been issued by the Met Office for York and North Yorkshire next Tuesday.
Forecasters say showers or longer periods of snow are expected, with the potential for travel delays on roads, with some stranded vehicles and passengers.
They say some rural communities could become cut off and power cuts may occur and other services, such as mobile phones, may be affected.
The Siberian easterlies, which have been dubbed the Beast from the East, are expected to cause snow showers every day for a week on the North York Moors.
Temperatures will struggle to rise above freezing and the biting easterlies will make it feel even colder because of the wind chill factor.
