A CARE home near Selby is in line for an extension, creating new apartments and care beds.

Roche Healthcare have applied for planning permission to build an extension at Mansion House care home, in Drax.

The company wants to build a unit with 11 "close care apartments" as well as an extension to the existing care home which will increase the number of bedrooms from 29 to 45.

Permission was given for a similar scheme in 2005, but the company now wants to renew that plan.

In documents prepared for the new planning application Roche's planning agents say the extension will provide "high specification" care facilities for people with dementia and extra care accommodation.

The rooms will be designed to modern standards, giving residents a higher standard of living, while the new rooms and apartments will lead to 25 new jobs on the site.
