Led by vocalist Sharleen Spiteri and co-founder Johnny McElhone, Texas released their ninth studio album, Jump On Board, last April, when it became the Scots' sixth top ten long player.

Influenced by Northern Soul, disco and such British groups as The Bee Gees and Orange Juice, it featured the singles Let's Work It Out and Tell That Girl, two songs sure to feature in this summer's setlist alongside the hits I Don't Want A Lover, Say What You Want, Halo, Summer Sun, Getaway and Black Eyed Boy.

Promoters Cuffe and Taylor's director, Peter Taylor, says: "Texas have produced hit after hit over the last four decades and remain a must-see live band.

“Their latest album is up there with their best work and we are delighted to be bringing them here to this wonderful venue."

Texas last played a North Yorkshire gig at York Barbican last September, when The Press reviewer Ian Donaghy wrote: "Sharleen dances like no-one was watching and sings with an ever-present smile. The ageless figure on the Barbican stage has the same love of music she did as a teenager in her bedroom."
