BRIT Award winner and chart-topping soul artist Emeli Sandé is the latest addition to the ever-expanding portfolio of summer shows at Scarborough Open Air Theatre. The Scottish singer-songwriter will be on the East Coast on July 5, performing such hits as Read All About It, Next To Me, My Kind Of Love and ‘Clown.

Tickets go on general sale on Wednesday, February 21 at 9am at scarboroughopenairtheatre.com, in person from the Scarborough Open Air Theatre box office, in Burniston Road, or the Discover Yorkshire Coast Tourism Bureau at Scarborough Town Hall or on 01723 818111 or 01723 383636.

Sandé burst on to the scene in 2009 with top ten hit Diamond Rings, her collaboration with Chipmunk. She scored further chart success with DJ and rapper Naughty Boy before claiming her first number one, Read All About It, with Professor Green.

Her multi-platinum-selling debut album, Our Version Of Events, catapulted Sandé to worldwide acclaim, whereupon her Live At The Albert Hall album topped the charts.

In 2012, Sandé performed at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London Olympic Games and she went on to win two Brit Awards in 2013 for Best British Female Solo Artist and British Album of the Year.

Sandés second studio album, Long Live The Angels, featuring the global hit single Hurts, was released in 2016. In 2017, she received the Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist, her fourth win in total, and she received an MBE in the 2017 Birthday Honours for services to music.

Her show at Scarborough Open Air Theatre will be presented by Cuffe and Taylor, whose director, Peter Taylor, said: "What can be said about Emeli Sandé which has not been said already? She is a global star whose songs have touched millions of people around the world. This is a major coup for Scarborough and Emeli joins what is quite simply the best summer line-up Scarborough Open Air Theatre has ever seen."
