STREET lights across County Bridge between Norton and Malton could be replaced this month - if work on the HGV restriction is also under way.
Leon Raymond, electrical inspector for North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC), said: “I have also placed an order to restore an electrical supply to a redundant column adjacent to the crossing barriers and ordered eight heavy duty columns.
“However, there is another programme of work in the pipeline to create a vehicle weight restriction zone in Malton.
“This involves installation of illuminated signs in the vicinity of the bridge and rail crossing.
“Programming of the work is outside my control and I do not yet have an exact date when the work will commence, however, there is pressure to have the weight restriction in place by the end of February.”
Mr Raymond said it would be beneficial if the test work and supply restoration could be carried out under the same traffic management as the weight restriction job.
“If the heavy duty columns can be delivered in time and if the test hole is deep enough, then the column can be installed at the same time,” he added.
