THE family-run firm behind the YorkyPud Wrap which became an overnight viral sensation are turning their York venue into a diner and shop.
The York Roast Co. Stonegate shop is undergoing a £150,000 makeover, ready to re-open in March. The new diner and take-away will be over two storeys, with the first floor seating 30-plus guests.
The refurbishment will be sympathetic to the building's 16th century roots, with solid timber tables and chairs complemented by natural, earthy tones, as well as a bright and contemporary geometric-pattern feature wall, said a spokesman.
A video showing The York Roast Co’s Yorkypud Wrap– a Sunday lunch of beef, turkey, ham or pork wrapped in a huge Yorkshire pudding with roasted vegetables, stuffing and topped with gravy – was watched by millions of people online and attracted lengthy queues.
The firm's other York location is on Low Petergate, with other venues in Chester, Shrewsbury and Salisbury.
