A DRIVER was arrested after failing a roadside test for cannabis following a crash in North Yorkshire.
North Yorkshire Police said officers were on patrol at around 11.30pm on Tuesday when they came across a car in a hedgerow on Mains Lane, Whitwell-on-the-Hill, near Malton.
A man in his 20s, believed to be the driver, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, the force added. He has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
A police spokesperson explained: "We came across the car in a ditch with a strong smell of cannabis coming from it.
"The driver tested positive for cannabis at the roadside. The passenger had a small amount of cannabis.
"Three girls who were passengers in the car were given a lift to their homes and their parents updated."
The spokesperson added that no-one was injured in the crash.
