COURT staff said farewell to a much-loved probation officer who is moving to a new post.
Roz Kamara has worked in the city’s crown magistrates courts for several years, preparing reports on defendants about to be sentenced, finding accommodation at probation hostels for defendants in custody, interviewing defendants after they have been sentenced and briefing judges and magistrates.
Speaking to a crowded Courtroom One at York Crown Court, the Honorary Recorder of York, Judge Paul Batty QC, said: “We will miss your complete professionalism and your dedication to your work. We wish you well in your future place of work.”
He was flanked by Judge Andrew Stubbs QC as he spoke to magistrates and staff from both court centres.
Miss Kamara said: “I will be sad to leave. I am leaving a lot of close friends and I will take with me a lot of fond memories.”
