YORKSHIRE Building Society in Malton has donated £1,999 to Wheels 2 Work Ryedale to allow the charity to buy another moped.
Wheels 2 Work provides a lifeline for people living in rural communities by allowing them to loan a moped at an affordable weekly rate.
One user of the scheme is Samantha Batty, 26, who couldn’t get to work otherwise. She said: “Where I live, I have a mile-long walk to and from the bus stop and then have to rely on buses which are few and far between. It can be quite isolating. Now I have the freedom to come and go as I please.”
