CONSULTATION will begin this week on plans to build new homes and businesses in Harrogate.

The Harrogate Local Plan also looks at roads and infrastructure, and lack of affordable housing, and was approved by Harrogate Borough Council in December.

A six-week consultation for residents, business leaders, developers and anyone with an interest begins on Friday, and asks whether people support the 20-year local plan or not.

Councillor Rebecca Burnett said: "It will help us tackle several major issues, not least a lack of homes which are affordable to people who want to live, work and raise a family here. We also need to grow the district’s economy for the benefit of everyone. I urge as many people as possible to take part in the consultation."

The consultation is online at http://consult.harrogate.gov.uk/portal from Friday.
