THE number of ambulances waiting outside York Hospital’s Emergency Department for an hour or longer has almost halved since Christmas week, new NHS figures have revealed.

Two hundred and one ambulances were recorded as waiting 60 minutes or longer to hand over patients in the week beginning December 25, but only 113 emergency crews out of 920 were found to have waited the same amount of time between January 8 and January 14.
