THERE was widespread disruption to the non-league fixture schedule on Saturday as a result of the weather, resulting in a spate of postponements.

Only five of 11 Evo-Stik League North games were played, with both Tadcaster Albion's home clash with Colwyn Bay and promotion-chasing Scarborough Athletic’s trip to Ramsbottom United falling afoul of frozen pitches.

The Northern Counties East League fared a little better, although premier division high-fliers Pickering Town slipped to fifth as they saw their home game to Albion Sports called off. It has been rearranged for Tuesday, March 13.

Off the pitch, the Pikes have snapped up 22-year-old winger George Eustance from premier division strugglers Harrogate Railway Athletic. He was eligible to feature on Saturday.

The Rail were big 6-2 winners at lowly Parkgate. Strikes from Nathan Merchant and Daniel O’Donnel added to doubles from Sheiden Rodgers and Adam Carter put them within one win from 18th.

Gary Collier made the perfect return to Selby Town as his 89th-minute strike sealed a 3-2 win at Eccleshill United.

Sam Bradley had twice cancelled out goals from Joe Dale and Liam Flanagan for the hosts - who had Jonny Irving dismissed with 15 minutes to go for a second bookable offence - with his second coming in the 85th minute, but Collier popped up late to ensure maximum return for Christian Fox’s men.

Leaders Knaresborough Town were grateful for second-placed Eccleshill missing out on points, as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Campion.

Harrogate Town were beaten 2-1 at National League North promotion rivals Salford City. First-half goals from Mike Phenix and man-of-the-match Tom Walker proved too much for Town, who got on the scoresheet just after the hour through Dom Knowles.
