IRON Age and Roman finds which are part of an East Yorkshire museum’s unique collection will be on display at a new exhibition in York.

‘YourDIG: Southburn’ is the first in a series of collaborative exhibitions that York Archaeological Trust, the team behind the JORVIK Viking Centre, is launching with selected partners from across Yorkshire to showcase a range of community-led initiatives.

The exhibition opens to the public on Saturday and highlights the history of the Southburn Archaeological Museum, near Driffield, and its unique collection including Iron Age pottery, an Anglian small-long brooch and fragments of a Roman glass bangle. Also on display will be an Iron-age chalk figurine.

Located within DIG, a hands-on archaeological visitor attraction in St Saviourgate, York, the YourDIG exhibition space will provide communities with a platform to share their work and their commitment to our local heritage for the benefit of the wider public.

Your DIG: Southburn runs until April 15, when it will make way for another YourDIG exhibition. Admission to the exhibition is free but charges apply for other areas at DIG.
